Estimated Payout of 2 Hits New High Since Listing
Taishin Japan Semiconductor ETF 00951 announced an estimated November distribution of 2 per beneficiary unit, a new high since its establishment in July 2024, up 11.5 times from the previous 0.16. Based on the November 4 closing price of 14.46, the estimated distribution yield is about 13.83%. Hit by global tech stock selling pressure that day, the price fell 0.67 or 4.43% to close at 14.46. 00951 adopts an annual distribution system, with ex-dividend scheduled for November 16. Investors must buy and hold by November 13 at the latest, with income distribution expected to be paid on December 4. The current 2 per unit remains an estimate, with the actual distribution amount to be officially announced on November 12.
Highly Concentrated in Japan Semiconductor Supply Chain
00951 is an overseas equity ETF themed on the Japanese semiconductor industry, with the top ten Dacheng constituent stocks accounting for about 82.13% combined. Among them, semiconductor test equipment maker Advantest accounts for 18.12% in first place, semiconductor equipment supplier Tokyo Electron accounts for 14.84%, memory maker Kioxia Holdings accounts for 11.9%, with the top three holdings totaling about 44.86%. Other major holdings include Lasertec, Renesas Electronics, Disco and Screen Group and other semiconductor equipment and chip makers. The overall portfolio is highly concentrated in the Japanese semiconductor supply chain, closely related to AI, memory and advanced-process capital expenditure, and fund net value may face larger volatility when related industries correct.
Manager Positive on Long-Term AI Equipment Demand
Taishin Japan Semiconductor ETF manager Chi-An Chiu said recent Japanese semiconductor stocks have pulled back with global tech stocks, but in the medium to long term they are still expected to benefit from AI, high-performance computing and advanced-process equipment demand. As the Japanese government continues to promote semiconductor industry policies and strengthen the local supply chain, high-purity semiconductor material and equipment makers deserve attention for long-term development. Japan's third-quarter large manufacturing business confidence index rose from 22 to 24, improving for 6 consecutive quarters, hitting a new high since the first quarter of 2018. The market estimates third-quarter corporate revenue up 4.1% year-on-year and net profit up 2.6%, with manufacturing net profit estimated to grow 13.7%. In addition, Japan's second-quarter household financial assets reached 2519 trillion yen, up 11% year-on-year, with stock and investment trust assets up 47% and 37% respectively, helping support medium- to long-term funding demand for Japanese stocks.
High Payout Still Requires Attention to Dividend-Fill Risk
00951's previous distribution was 0.16 per unit, now estimated to rise to 2, an increase of 1150%. Based on today's closing price of 14.46, holding one lot, or 1000 beneficiary units, is expected to receive 2000 in cash dividends. However, ETF prices are adjusted accordingly on ex-dividend, and distributions do not equal extra profit. Today's single-day 4.43% drop also reflects Japanese semiconductor stocks still facing correction pressure from global tech stocks. As the semiconductor industry is highly cyclical, coupled with concentrated fund holdings, investors should, in addition to focusing on the nearly 14% estimated distribution yield this time, also watch post-ex-dividend fill performance, fund net value and exchange rate fluctuations, and should not view a single high distribution as a sustainable annual yield level.
