Targeting Logistics Transport and Replacement Demand
Zhimao Motors Co., Ltd. has officially announced the introduction of the Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) TGM-MIL 4x4 military truck, targeting domestic military logistics transport, material supply, container carriage, recovery support and multi-purpose mission vehicle needs, providing a new option for the national military's future vehicle replacement and procurement evaluation. The TGM platform is based on MAN commercial vehicle technology, combined with chassis, electrical, lighting, safety and cargo bed configurations required for military missions, balancing daily logistics, road transport and off-road use. RMMV has long focused on military and militarized logistics wheeled vehicles, and Zhimao Motors obtained its general distributorship for military vehicles in 2018.
Powertrain Chassis and Off-Road Mobility
The introduced model adopts 4x4 all-wheel drive, with a gross vehicle weight of 17,500 kg, a chassis curb weight of about 6,500 kg, and a payload capacity of 11,000 kg. It is equipped with a 6,871c.c. water-cooled electronically controlled common-rail diesel engine, with maximum output of 320 hp and peak torque of 1,250Nm, paired with an automatic transmission with 8 forward gears and 1 reverse gear, and a transfer case with on-road, off-road and neutral modes, specially featuring a urea-free engine with no power derating function. The vehicle has 60% gradeability, 85 cm fording depth, as well as a 28-degree approach angle and 21-degree departure angle, paired with parabolic leaf spring suspension, hydraulic shock absorbers and differential locks, with a maximum speed of 110kmh, a 300-liter fuel tank and 35-liter urea tank.
Operational Safety and Modular Cargo Bed
The vehicle adopts a driver-oriented operating interface, equipped with electronically controlled full air brakes and Level 2 driver assistance systems, including ABS, blind spot detection and optional driver fatigue detection, and fitted with 365/85 R20 run-flat tires, a central tire inflation system and military tread patterns. Special equipment includes NATO-spec blackout lights, recovery air source interface and NATO connector external power interface. The rear cargo bed side panels adopt military quick-release latches, with side panels and canopy quickly removable, and compatible with standard container twist locks for fixing, adopting a torsion-free subframe design and concealed integrated steps, with a single chassis configurable for material transport, container carriage or equipment platform according to mission needs.
Local Maintenance and Procurement Strategy
Zhimao Motors stated it will combine its commercial vehicle maintenance and technical service experience to plan TGM series product introduction, operator training, maintenance, parts supply and technical support, and evaluate cargo bed and mission equipment integration solutions according to military needs. The company was founded in 2006, obtained the general distributorship for Czech TORSUS off-road buses in 2019, and obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2020. Currently across Taiwan there are eight large service plants and 32 contracted service plants, and a 2,500-ping maintenance plant will be established in Mailiao, Yunlin on November 25. In the future, it will cooperate with competent authorities and procurement procedures to provide vehicle displays, technical briefings and live vehicle evaluations, seeking to participate in subsequent related procurement programs.
