Taiwan stocks plunge 1156 points on closing day
Taiwan stocks remained weak on the Oct. 30 closing day, with an intraday low of 44726.26 points, and finally plunged 1156.5 points, down 2.49%, to close at 45211.83 points. Selling pressure was heavy across the market, with large-cap heavyweights leading declines. Almost all AI concept stocks weakened, market wait-and-see sentiment was strong, and only a few stocks bucked the trend to close higher, leaving a divergent market performance on the closing day.
Heavyweights lead declines, 台達電 hits limit-down
In terms of heavyweight stocks, 台積電 fell for the second straight day, down 45 yuan today to close at 2370 yuan. 台達電 faced the heaviest selling pressure and closed limit-down at 1335 yuan. 鴻海 also weakened, down more than 1% to close at 245.5 yuan. The three major electronics heavyweights came under pressure simultaneously, showing concentrated selling in AI-related stocks, which became the main pressure dragging the index lower, with overall group performance clearly weak.
Almost all AI concept stocks fall
Many AI concept stocks fell by 5% today, including 雙鴻 closing at 1330 yuan, down 9.22%. 台燿 closed at 1256 yuan, down 8.99%. GOGOLOOK closed at 146 yuan, down 8.75%. 訊芯-KY closed at 329 yuan, down 8.61%. 金像電 closed at 1020 yuan, down 8.52%. 世芯-KY closed at 3425 yuan, down 6.93%. 台光電 closed at 4675 yuan, down 6.69%. 高技 closed at 197 yuan, down 6.64%. 波若威 closed at 509 yuan, down 6.09%. 信驊 closed at 15970 yuan, down 5.95%. 京元電子 closed at 253.5 yuan, down 5.94%. 勤誠 closed at 716 yuan, down 5.29%. 金寶 closed at 29.65 yuan, down 5.27%. 宜鼎 closed at 1120 yuan, down 5.08%. 宏碁 closed at 30.4 yuan, down 5%.
瑞昱 bucks the trend, local institutions call for 900 yuan
Among the stocks bucking the trend, 瑞昱 closed at 803 yuan, up 1.13%. Benefiting from AI-driven networking specification upgrades, plus product price hikes set to lift gross margin, it won buy support from local institutional investors with a target price of up to 900 yuan, driving the share price higher against the trend. In addition, 研華 closed at 680 yuan, up 1.04%, also staying in positive territory amid selling pressure on AI concept stocks, becoming one of the few bright spots on the closing day.
