Index Opens Higher and Moves Higher to Top 47000
Buying on AI themes returned, and lower international oil prices lifted sentiment. U.S. stocks all moved higher on Tuesday, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up more than 3%, while TAIFEX night-session futures rose 774 points. The Taipei market opened on the 28th up 306.56 points at 46402.79, touched an intraday high of 47060.46, and closed up 939.35 points, about 2.04%, at 47035.58, with turnover of 7221.35億元. The OTC index opened up 3.26 points at 382.46, touched an intraday high of 394.45, and closed up 15.25 points, about 4.02%, at 394.45, with turnover of 1653.57億元.
Heavyweights and High-Priced Stocks Rise Together
Heavyweight stocks all strengthened. TSMC opened up 20 at 2420, touched an intraday high of 2430, and closed up 25, about 1.04%, at 2425, contributing 199 points to the index. MediaTek opened up 80 at 4040, touched an intraday high of 4245, and closed up 275, about 6.94%, at 4235. Delta Electronics opened up 55 at 1565 and closed up 40, about 2.65%, at 1550. High-priced stocks staged a celebratory rally, with ASPEED surging to 17400 intraday and closing up nearly 8% at 17295. King Slide returned above 10000, touching an intraday high of 10290 and closing up more than 3% at 10150. CHPT, Global Unichip, Genius Electronic Optical and Gold Circuit Electronics hit limit-up, Fositek rose more than 9%, and Jentech, Alchip-KY and Kaori rose more than 8%.
PCB and Packaging/Test Stocks Rotate Higher
PCB stocks recovered. Unimicron posted 2026 Q3 after-tax net profit of 100.52億元, down 23.35% from the previous quarter, its second-highest single-quarter record, with cumulative first-three-quarter after-tax net profit of 282.1億元 and EPS of 17.85, up nearly 8 times year on year; its shares once jumped to 1145 and closed up more than 3%. Chin-Poon, Kinsus, Taiding-KY, Fuqiao, Asia Metal, Gold Circuit Electronics and Dahong Technology hit limit-up, Jinju rose more than 9%, and Baodeli, Taiwan Union, Daliang and Nan Ya rose more than 7%. CHPT posted Q3 EPS of 16.75, earning more than one share capital for three consecutive quarters and setting a new record, hitting limit-up today and reclaiming all moving averages. A U.S. foreign broker initiated coverage on Winway at Overweight with a target price of 7500, and MPI at Neutral with a target price of 5350; Zhongtan Probe, Kinsus and CHPT hit limit-up, Fanquan rose more than 8%, and 精材, Chipbond and Powertech rose more than 7%.
IC Design and Optics Active; UMC in Focus Ahead of Earnings Call
In IC design, the market focused on the MediaTek earnings call on Friday, with its AI ASIC layout earning Buy ratings from two U.S. foreign brokers and target prices of up to 5800 and 6800. Etron, Tianqing, Global Unichip, Andes, Faraday, Lianjie and Silergy-KY hit limit-up, Alchip-KY rose more than 8%, and ASPEED, Etron, SiS and Nuvoton rose more than 7%. China Yangguang is expanding into drone-application lenses, with second-half drone revenue share expected to rise to 8% to 10%, sending its shares straight to the limit-up price of 57.9; Genius Electronic Optical also hit limit-up, Kinko Optical and Yangming Optical rose more than 6%, and Largan rose more than 5%. UMC will hold its earnings call this afternoon, touching an intraday high of 128.5 and closing up more than 4% at 128.
