吳敏求 Reiterates Key Role of Memory
旺宏 Chairman 吳敏求 stressed at a recent earnings call that the company does not aim to be a Me Too Company and will not blindly follow market trends. On the 28th, while receiving an honorary doctorate from 中央大學, he again addressed the importance of memory, noting that memory is not just a simple component, but its role in the overall system must be considered, and those roles will affect the performance of each company. He also said Taiwan's advantages lie not only in wafer manufacturing, but also in the systems and contract-manufacturing industries, where related companies are highly competitive.
Memory Stocks Rebound Across the Board
Memory stocks rebounded across the board on the 28th, with 華邦電 and 群聯 rising more than 5%, 南亞科 surging 8.16%, and 威剛 hitting limit-up. 旺宏 briefly turned negative intraday but closed higher, up 0.5元, ending in positive territory on late buying. The strong rebound in memory stocks also became one of the key drivers lifting the broader market.
Taiex Reclaims Quarterly Line to Close at 47035
The Taiex opened higher and moved higher on the 28th, closing up 939 points at 47035, reclaiming the quarterly moving average and retaking the 47000 integer mark. Turnover for the day was about 7221億元, with the market watching whether the rebound can continue. As the market was volatile in the previous session and many investors exited early, the strong rally left some retail investors lamenting the missed rebound. Analyst 李永年 suggested taking smaller positions and trading within a range in the near term, selling high and buying low to cope with volatility and avoiding excessive chasing.
Heavyweights Rebound as Earnings Calls Take Turns
Beyond memory stocks, electronics heavyweights also rebounded. 台積電 reached 2425元, 聯發科 rose nearly 7% to 4235元, while 台達電 and 鴻海 also closed higher. 聯電, which held its earnings call, reversed earlier weakness, rising nearly 5% to close at 128元 and boosting the overall electronics sector. With major U.S. cloud service providers set to report earnings and earnings calls from several Taiwan tech firms upcoming, the market is watching whether related results can further drive AI concept stocks. 李永年 said if stocks perform strongly after earnings releases, investors may watch for follow-up opportunities in strong stocks, but it is not advisable to rush into weak stocks at this stage. With November approaching, whether the rebound can continue will depend on earnings results, trading volume, and market fund flows.
