Strong U.S. Rebound Spurs Electronics Heavyweights to Lead Rally
Following a sharp rebound in oversold U.S. semiconductor stocks, Taiwan stocks staged a comeback, opening higher and moving higher on Wednesday. The index surged 939 points to close at 47035, reclaiming the quarterly moving average, with market sentiment clearly warming. Electronics heavyweights led the charge, driving simultaneous sharp gains in silicon IP, memory, thermal solutions, and networking groups, becoming the biggest contributors to the index gain.
Turnover Shrinks to 7221亿元, Overhead Pressure Remains
Despite reclaiming multiple moving averages, domestic institutional investors warned that market turnover shrank to 7221亿元, which may limit the sustainability of the rebound. In the short term, as the index approaches the quarterly moving average and the upper edge of the recent consolidation range, considerable locked-in selling pressure remains above. Facing the rapidly changing market, investors should stay cautious and focus on upcoming heavyweight earnings reports and international meeting developments.
Substrate, Silicon IP, and Panel Groups Rise Together
On individual stocks, several popular targets showed explosive strength. Gold Circuit Electronics surged 9.72%, Global Unichip rose about 9.96%, Faraday Technology rose about 9.92%, and machinery- and substrate-related Chin-Poon Industrial hit the daily limit. Among high-volume hot stocks, panel makers AUO jumped 6.28% and Innolux jumped 4.76% on active trading; UMC rose 4.49% and PSMC rose 2.74%, showing funds clearly flowing back into electronics.
Traditional and Financial Sectors Relatively Weak, Advised to Weed Out Weak Stocks
In contrast to the broad electronics rally, some traditional industrial and specific stocks performed dimly. The bicycle industry recovery remained weak, with technicals yet to reclaim major moving averages, warranting continued observation. On the decliners side, Ardentec fell 4.23%, Highwealth Construction fell 3.24%, Formosa Petrochemical and Pou Chen corrected 2.83% and 2.7% respectively, while financial bellwether E.SUN Financial closed lower, down 2.22%. Institutional investors suggest using the rebound to swap weak stocks for strong ones and strictly control downside risk.
