Taiwan Stocks Plunge Intraday, Close Down Over 1,000 Points
Taiwan stocks (30) today plunged by more than 1600 points intraday and still closed down 1156.5 points at 45211.83, with a single-day decline of 2.49% and trading volume of about 8777.30億元. The market is watching whether regulators will act to stabilize the market. In response, the FSC said it has asked the Taiwan Stock Exchange and the Taipei Exchange to closely monitor changes in international financial markets and to continue to monitor recent stock market volatility.
Asian Markets Fall Together, Taiwan Decline in the Middle
Looking at major Asian股市 performance today, most markets fell together. South Korean stocks fell 4.04%, Japanese stocks fell 2.34%, Singapore stocks fell 0.39%, Shanghai stocks fell 0.33%, while Hong Kong stocks rose 1.78%. The FSC noted that Taiwan stocks fell 2.49% today, a decline that still falls among major Asian markets in the same period, showing that this volatility is closely linked to changes in international financial markets.
Listed-Company Revenue Growth Shows Solid Fundamentals
On Taiwan stock fundamentals, the FSC said that through the end of September this year, the Taiwan stock P/E ratio was about 26.68 times, the cash dividend yield was 1.54%, and 1.58% including stock dividends. Cumulative revenue of listed companies through the end of September this year was about 49.89兆元, up 38.21% from the same period last year. The FSC reiterated that Taiwan stock fundamentals remain solid, and investors should assess market conditions based on objective data and should not panic excessively.
Margin Maintenance Stable, Call for Rational Judgment
In addition, as of October 29 this year, the overall margin maintenance ratio for credit transactions was 180.21%, and short sales by securities borrowing accounted for 4.31% of market turnover. The FSC emphasized that it has supervised the TWSE and TPEx to build a "Taiwan Stock Dashboard" disclosing important information such as credit business and listed-company revenue, and advised investors to make more use of it to judge market changes rationally based on objective data.
