Opened Higher and At One Point Surged Over 850 Points
Gains in U.S. AI chip stocks drove Taiwan stocks today (28日) to open higher and move higher. In addition, as 台積電 ADR rose 2.95%, boosting bullish confidence, 台積電 rose to 2430 yuan at the highest intraday. The benchmark index at one point surged over 850 points intraday, reaching a high of 46949.98 points, reclaiming the quarterly line at about 46392 points. Electronics Heavyweights Led Gains With Healthy Sector Rotation
Looking at market performance, electronics heavyweights generally moved higher, including 聯發科 (2454) up over 5%, 日月光投控 (3711) up over 6% with a relatively strong gain, while 鴻海 (2317) and 台達電 (2308) both rose slightly, with the semiconductor group strengthening to become important support for the broader market. In the memory group, 南亞科 (2408) rose about 4%, while passive component maker 國巨 (2327) also rose 4.6%. In addition, electronics components, optoelectronics, plastics and other sectors performed firmly, while financials turned from black to red, with overall sector rotation remaining healthy and the electronics group still the focus of market popularity.
High-Priced Stocks Strong With All Four U.S. Indexes Closing Higher as Support
High-priced stocks also drew market attention, with stock queen 川湖 (2059) returning above 10,000 yuan intraday, while 精測 (6510) and 玉晶光 (3406) hit limit-up, and Taiwan's "47 thousand-gold" stocks also maintained a strong pattern, with buying in high-priced groups remaining active. All four U.S. indexes closed higher in the previous trading day, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 15.99 points, or 0.03%, closing at 52377.57 points; the S&P 500 up 45.83 points, or 0.6%, closing at 7722.6 points; the Nasdaq up 308.43 points, or 1.18%, closing at 26477.81 points; and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index jumping 399.03 points, or 3.6%, closing at 11482.5 points. Among individual stocks, AI chip leader NVIDIA rose 0.9%, and 台積電 ADR rose 2.95%, with semiconductor strength becoming important support for today's intraday rally in Taiwan stocks.
