Market Swings 908點 to Close Higher
Taipei stocks on 10月27日 staged a roller-coaster session, opening up over 500點 at one point, then facing heavy selling pressure and violent washout, plunging intraday to 45676點 and breaking below the monthly low, with a full-day high-low spread of 908.78點. The index narrowly rallied into the close, edging up 54.8點 to 46096.23點, with turnover reaching 9765.47億元. Technically this pattern is called a break-low reversal, and senior analyst 周代運 warned that without volume support it is likely artificial price action, and investors should not rush in to catch the falling knife.
Institutional Flows Propped Up by Investment Trusts
After-hours chip data showed the three major institutional investors posted net buying, but mainly supported by investment trusts with net buying of 236億元, while selling pressure from foreign investors and dealers remained heavy. Although the broader market closed higher today, volume did not truly follow. 周代運 noted the short-term trend may still point upward, but investors must not be overly hasty, a volume-less rebound should still be treated cautiously, and a recovery can only be confirmed after volume fills in.
台積電 Holds Up Alone as Funds Shift to Oversold Stocks
On the market structure front, 台積電 (2330) surged intraday to 2405元 and closed holding above the 2400元 level, providing support for the broader market. However foundry peer 聯電 (2303) plunged 2.39% to close at 122.5元, heavyweights failed to rise together, relying solely on 台積電 alone, a classic TSMC-led market. Rebound funds instead flowed to low-base oversold names, with 南亞科 (2408) surging over 6.5%, 緯穎 (6669) jumping over 6%, as well as 國巨 (2327), showing market funds were only testing the waters, not a full return of mainstream buying.
Three Signals to Watch at Tomorrow Morning Open
Facing the murky market outlook, 周代運 highlighted three important signals to watch closely at 明早 open. The first is whether 台積電 (2330) can keep holding above the 2400元 level; if it holds, the index has a chance to approach the quarterly line, but a break below would delay the recovery call again. The second is recovery of the quarterly line; after the market lost the quarterly line, the index must hold above it for three consecutive days to confirm a genuine turnaround. The third is whether volume fills in; only a rally on volume reflects real buying. He urged that price action can deceive but volume does not, and instead of guessing the bottom every day, it is better to wait patiently for the signals to stabilize, surviving long matters far more than profiting fast.
