Net Buying Rebounds for 10th Straight Day to NT$14.1 Billion in a Single Day

October 27, the first trading day for Taiwan stocks after the long holiday, saw buying by actively managed ETFs at full force. According to tracking by the Boboliu Speculation Command, consensus additions of more than NT$100 million per transaction totaled NT$16.8 billion, with reductions of NT$2.6 billion, for combined net buying of NT$14.1 billion. Before the holiday, daily net buying had cooled from the October 15 high to around NT$6 billion; after the holiday, with only 22 ETFs reporting data, it rebounded to NT$14.1 billion, second only to the October 15 level.

Fund flows have now posted net buying for 10 consecutive trading days, with amounts of NT$14.8 billion, NT$13.2 billion, NT$9.5 billion, NT$7 billion, NT$7.3 billion, NT$6 billion, and then NT$14.1 billion on October 27, showing continued inflows. However, net buying was highly concentrated, and the overall figures alone cannot be taken to mean all actively managed ETFs favor the same stocks. A single large purchase can lift the total, and differences in stock selection among investment trusts warrant attention.
