Regular Fixed-Investment Accounts and Amounts Climb in Tandem
Regular fixed investment has gradually become one of the ways Taiwanese participate in long-term stock market growth, with Taiwan equity ETFs the most favored by investors. According to SITCA data, as of August 2026, the number of ETF regular fixed-investment accounts had jumped from 2.498 million in January this year to 3.528 million, while debit amounts increased from NT$19.837 billion to NT$30.805 billion.
Among the popular ETF regular fixed-investment targets since the start of the year, in addition to several familiar names, the KGI Taiwan TOP 50 ETF (009816), newly listed in February this year, has emerged as a dark horse and one of the new favorites for regular fixed investment. Two months after its debut, the fund broke into the top 10 ranking for ETF regular fixed-investment accounts, and in September this year it passed another milestone, with transaction accounts exceeding 100,000.
Passive Taiwan Equity ETFs Account for Over 80%
Benefiting from AI investment tailwinds, Taiwan equities selling the "shovels" have risen more than 70% so far this year, a standout performance that cannot be ignored, and this is indeed reflected in investors' preferred targets. In the current regular fixed-investment market, passive Taiwan equity ETFs account for 82.5% of total transaction accounts, passive overseas equity ETFs account for 7.7%, active Taiwan equity ETFs account for 7.1%, passive overseas bond ETFs account for 1.4%, and active overseas equity ETFs account for 1%, showing that passive Taiwan equity ETFs are highly anticipated by investors.
In mid-September, Federal Reserve Chair Warsh raised rates by 25 basis points for the first time in his tenure, lifting the policy rate to 3.75% to 4.00%. Once the uncertainty over interest rate policy was resolved, sidelined funds flowed back, the index moved past its prior high, and market sentiment shifted明显 from wait-and-see to積極, with the shift in rate expectations the key driver behind this rally.
Cooling Employment Cools Bets on Further Hikes
Looking ahead, U.S. September nonfarm payrolls added only 29,000 jobs, far below market expectations, with July and August combined revised down by 60,000, while the unemployment rate rose to 4.2%, and market bets on another Fed rate hike in October have cooled明显. The market generally expects listed Taiwan companies' earnings to still post high double-digit growth next year.
The KGI Taiwan TOP 50 (009816) ETF research team noted that Taiwan market margin balances have climbed back above NT$600 billion, and with both the U.S. and Taiwan in election years this year, market noise may amplify short-term volatility. Investors are advised to use regular fixed investment in a basket of leading companies through market-cap-based Taiwan equity ETFs, building positions in batches to diversify entry-cost risk and continuing to participate in Taiwan's growth curve.
