Regular Investment Accounts Jump by Over One Million
According to data from the Securities Investment Trust and Consulting Association, as of August 2026, ETF regular fixed-investment trading accounts had jumped from 2.498 million in January this year to 3.528 million, while debit amounts rose from NT$19.837 billion to NT$30.805 billion, showing that regular fixed investment has gradually become one way for investors to participate in long-term stock market growth, with Taiwan equity ETFs the most favored by investors.
009816 Enters Top Ten Six Months After Listing
Looking at popular ETF regular investment targets since this year, in addition to several familiar names, the KGI Taiwan TOP 50 ETF (009816), newly listed in February this year, has emerged as a dark-horse favorite. Two months after its debut, the fund broke into the top 10 ranking for ETF regular fixed-investment trading accounts, and in September this year passed its own milestone, with trading accounts exceeding 100,000.
Passive Taiwan Equity ETFs Account for Over 80%
Benefiting from AI investment tailwinds, Taiwan stocks selling "shovels" have risen over 70% so far this year, a standout performance that cannot be ignored, and is indeed reflected in investors' preferred targets. In the current regular investment market, passive Taiwan equity ETFs account for 82.5% of total trading accounts, passive overseas equity ETFs 7.7%, active Taiwan equity ETFs 7.1%, passive overseas bond ETFs 1.4%, and active overseas equity ETFs 1%, showing that passive Taiwan equity ETFs are highly anticipated by investors.
Rate Turn Lifts Market, Margin Balances Return to NT$600 Billion
In mid-September, Federal Reserve Chair Warsh raised rates by one code, or 25 bps, for the first time in his tenure, lifting the policy rate to 3.75% to 4.00%. With uncertainty over rate policy resolved, sidelined funds flowed back, the index moved past its prior high, and market sentiment shifted clearly from wait-and-see to bullish, with the turn in rate expectations the key driver of this rally.
Cooling Jobs Data, Staggered Buys in Large-Cap ETFs Advised
Looking ahead, U.S. September nonfarm payrolls added only 29,000 jobs, far below market expectations, with July and August revised down by a combined 60,000 and the unemployment rate rising to 4.2%, and market bets on another Fed rate hike in October have clearly cooled. The market generally expects listed Taiwan companies to still post high double-digit earnings growth next year. The KGI Taiwan TOP 50 (009816) ETF research team notes that Taiwan market margin balances have climbed back above NT$600 billion, and with election years in both the U.S. and Taiwan this year, market noise may amplify short-term volatility. Investors are advised to use regular fixed investment in a basket of leading companies via market-cap Taiwan equity ETFs, building positions in batches to diversify entry-cost risk and stay invested in Taiwan's growth curve.
