70 Years of Home Economics Carrying Forward Rural Women’s Strength
Marking 70 years of home economics extension this year, the event set up a dedicated “家政70週年專區,” reviewing how Taiwan’s rural home economics extension started with improving rural family life and, as times and rural needs changed, gradually expanded to 田媽媽, local agricultural souvenirs, elderly life improvement, and green care, becoming the warmest and most solid support for food and farming education and sustainable rural development. Taitung Station Director 陳信言 delivered opening remarks, thanking exhibitors and paying tribute to the home economics mothers and extension personnel who have long cultivated and accompanied rural growth. Deputy Director-General 陳瑞榮 of the Ministry of Agriculture noted that the Taitung station combines Indigenous traditional wisdom with modern technology to promote germplasm conservation of Indigenous crops, new variety selection and breeding, and labor-saving machinery, while actively advancing low-carbon cultivation and agricultural ESG to achieve environmental sustainability for the common good.
The celebration ceremony was jointly launched by Director 陳信言, Senior Specialist 郭愷珶 of the Ministry of Agriculture, and Professor 林如萍 of National Taiwan Normal University.
